A NEW five-speed gearbox is being introduced into Europe by the Eaton Corporation. Initially the gearbox will be supplied from the United States but as demand increases it is expected that the unit will be manufactured in the UK.
Available as a synchromesh or constant mesh transmission the Model 475 is designed for vehicles of up to 20 tonnes (19.6 tons) and engines developing up to 119kW (160bhp). The gearbox is available bo. as an overdrive or direct tt transmission.
Standard ratio models a suitable for use with engin+ giving maximum torque 1 406.8Nm (3001bft). The ti SAE standard power take-a openings are provided one either side of the gear cas and a layshaft full torqt power take-off unit is availab for installation on the rear fa+ of the gearbox.
