Guide Post Junior football team have got talent, drive and ambition. What they haven't got is a coach, and as a result the Northumberland team has been forced to abandon its matches in the Coast Colts League. Unfortunately, due to work commitments, both its coaches had to leave mid-season and manager Brent Thirtle has been running the club on his own. He readily admits he is not fully qualified to coach the lads who, despite this setback, are not downhearted and report regularly for training sessions at Mowbray First School in Guide Post. It was this determination and team spirit that impressed Alan Moody, managing director of local haulier D Moody Haulage. He has kitted out the team with a new strip, and as you can see, they really look the business. "The team has some tremendously enthusiastic young players and they deserve to be helped. The adults who helped set it up and keep it going are also doing a fantastic job for the community," says Alan, seated here with the young players. Ail the lads need now is a coach. If you can help, contact Brian Thirtle on 01670 531858 and who knows, there might even be a little Owen or a budding Beckham warming up on that touch line.
