Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

At last our industry is showing signs of closing ranks: at least among those of us at grass roots level. If the likes of Mr Stobart, TDG and those others whose involvement would have an immediate and devastating effect on the UK will not lead us then we must act without them. As they rely on subcontractors, they will inevitably be dragged into the very situation they are so obviously keen to avoid.

Talking in Downing Street has limited value and we must not allow the Government to play for time.

It's much better to park up on a Friday and take a long weekend off, reducing your loss for the month.

If everyone at the base of this industry did that then those above would soon come tumbling down. Ask your bank manager if he supports you in reducing your costs next week to keep your overdraft within its authorised limits! Do not continue to increase your loss. Every haulier, whether they have one or 30 vehicles, should stop operating for two days—Friday and Monday—and there would be an immediate response. No barricades, no blocking roads Just PARK UP—that is legal. Stuart Bowman, VTRANS, Newport, South Wales.
