Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Iread with interest your call in last week's issue for a coordinate.d Police Task force which can track the movement of stolen vehicles and loads.

Securicor Datatrak has provided just such a nationwide tracking service for some time.

Many of our users (including the police) can testify to the efficacy of this service, both in alerting them to vehicle theft and then allowing successful recovery.

More than 50% of the hauliers questioned in your survey say they've spent more than £100 on security devices for each of their trucks. Effective deterrents and tracking costs more than that but nevertheless is a tiny proportion of the cost of replacement.

So the means to combat growing levels of truck theft already exist and are proven and hauliers should take responsibility for evaluating it as well as continuing dialogue with the police.
