• Disciplinary proceedings against Newportbased SJ Haulage & Storage have been adjourned for the fourth time by South Wales Traffic Commissioner John Mervyn Pugh. In addition to considering disciplinary action ag-ainst the company's licence, the commissioner also considered a 22 vehicles and six trailers licence renewal (CM 18-24 March).

A number of prohibition notices were put on the company's vehicles. It had also been fined £250 by South Herefordshire magistrates for a tacho offence and £1,000 by Bristol magistrates for tacho and defective tyre offences.

For the company. Colin Ward said the SJ had not known about the summonses. Appeals to the Crown Court against the convictions were adjourned.

Adjourning the hearing until September, Mervyn Pugh said that he would be influenced by the Crown Court decision and if the company was able to exist without collecting any more summonses or prohibitions.
