Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

licences checked at least annually? The DVLA offers a facility to validate drivers. lIcences. Are

addresses and references checked? What about subcontractors, how do you oredlt check them?

• Induction process: How thorough is it? How much health and safety information Is provided?

• in-vehicle assessments: Do you take the new drivers out and assess their driving skills? Do they know where all the controls are and how they work?

• Manual handling assessments: Is there one? Who does it? Hew often?

• Existing injuries: How good are your health and safety assessments? Do your staff fully understand your H&S policy? Can you prove it?

• Eyesight/hearing tests: Are these regularly carried out?

• Employees handbook: Is there one? Are all new staff provided with a copy?

• Non-smoking policy: Has one been Introduced? And, just as important, has it been formalised?

• Fatigue policies: Can you prove drivers are fit for purpose? Are you aware of any extracurricular activities that might cause or exacerbate injuries?

Finally, is all the above Information written down and filed? Can you provide copies if you need to prove you are on top of the majority of risks in your workplace?
