Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A Dana six-bolt power take-off is being marketed in the UK by Earby Light Engineers, Power Equipment Division, which is specifically designed for use with Allison automatic transmissions and eliminates the need to stop the vehicle or transmission — for a pto shift. This obviates crashing the gears and should reduce down-time for repairs, Gears are precision honed to reduce gear noise to a minimum.

One model, the Chelsea 27DD, operates at 75 per cent of engine speed on the Allison AT-540 series transmission. Another model the Chelsea 271(3, operates at 72 per cent of engine speed on the Allison MT series transmission. Special flanges are available for the direct mounting of hydraulic pumps.

The models are constantmesh units having integral disc clutches that are actuated from the transmission's high-pressure fine; lubrication under pressure is provided by the low-pressure fine.

Torque rating is 250 lb ft for intermittent operation. The pto shift is remotely controlled by an hydraulic three-way valve which is operated by a conventional wire control.

Marketed by: Earby Light Engineers Ltd, Power Equipment Division, Skipton Road, Caine, Lancashire. charger. It is called the Marron Stork welder model BC130, and is suitable for use on 240 /440V 50-cycle single-phase supply and is fitted with a safety device to guard against incorrect voltage setting.

Applications of the machine include plant maintenance, body repair work, light sheet metalwork and similar tasks.

Welding current is adjustable by a hand wheel between 30 and 130amp output, an easy-view amperage indicator showing the current required for welding rods of varying diameter. The machine is continuously rated for rods of 1.5mm to 2.5mm dia 116 to 10 swg), and intermittently rated for rods of up to 3.25mm die (10 swg). Thermostatic protection safeguards against heat overload.

Versatility of the welder is enhanced by the provision of re-charging facilities for 6, 12 and 24V batteries. Re-charging time can be adjusted, depending upon voltage and battery condition, between 5hr (10amp) and 12 hr (3 to 4amp). The unit contains a silicon rectifier and a re-settable circuit breaker which operates in the event of the negative lead being connected accidentally to the positive terminal.

Housed in a robust metal container with a carrying handle, the machine is 15in. long, 10in. wide and 12in. high, while its weight is 591b. Optional extras include an accessory kit comprising face mask, clamps, electrode holder, wire brush and scaling hammer together with a special carbon arc torch for welding, soldering, brazing, pre-heating and melting metals. It is possible to weld and braze materials which are normally welded by the oxy-acetylene process.

Price: £59.50 plus VAT.
