THE Transport Service Equipment section at the Show this year comprises some 33 stands. This is 10 fewer than the 1960 Show. Among firms not,showing this year are Joseph Bradbury and Sons, Ltd., V. L. Churchill and Co„ Ltd., Crypton, Ltd., and Epco, Ltd., but despite the drop of 23 per cent of exhibitors this section of the Commercial Motor Show remains full of interest.

Showing for the first time is the oxypropane back-pack emergency cutting outfit of The British Oxygen Co., Ltd.. (Stand 172). . This back-pack weighs only 40 lb.; a single cylinder of propane is carried in the supporting frame. The new Hartridge Series 1200 test bench, of novel design, is a prominent feature of the Leslie Hartridge, Ltd., display on Stand 156). The motor is of 10 h.p. (alternatively 15 h.p.) and a new variable-speed gear unit is employed with speed ranges of 6,000-60,000 r.p.m., combining epicyclic gearing with expanding pulleys. The machine is equipped with either eight or 12 injectors and has built-in total delivery and fuel-feed pump delivery collection jars. This firm also feature the Hartridge Spotcheck—a speedy on-theengine device for checking injector condition, fuel-pump delivery valve seat and element condition; it checks, too, engine cylinder compression pressure.

Among the exhibits of Apaseal, Ltd. (Stand 150) is a tyre-spreader suitable for use with a variety of wheel sizes. Of much interest, too, is the Blackhawk crane shown by Applied Power Industries Inc. (U.K.), Ltd, (formerly Blackhawk, Ltd., and showing for the first time under their new name). The Blackhawk crane has extra long reach and jib height—with three positions for greater versatility.

Shown for the first time by Hallam, n42 Sleigh and Cheston, Ltd., (Stand 318) is the Widney air/water lance bus interior cleanser and a mobile air/water unit for operating in confined spaces.

Kismet, Ltd. (Stand 163), introduce various items of interest including the "300" Series floor-flush wheel alignment outfit KWA. 324, and the [(WA. 334 fully-floating turning-radius gauge. This concern also show the " Minute-saver" lift of 3-ton capacity, the [(AG. 406 Master-air pressure gauge, the Pabairmic wall-gauge and air-towers, and the KBT. 305/6 portable brake tester.

An addition to the range of hydraulic jacks produced by Lake and Elliot Jacksand Equipment, Ltd., is the M.O.20, to be seen on Stand 332.

The new Laycock Arch-washer on show, suitable for use with small commercial vehicles, incorporates many advanced features. The arch assembly contains water, soap controls and outlet nozzles and also the free-running central trolley portion; the tank, motor and pump assembly is also supplied as a unit.

Presented, too, by Laycock Engineering, Ltd. (Stand 153), is the latest version of the Laycock I2-ton lift.

The first public demonstration in this country of the Bisham 880-61 Tyre Changer is featured by The Marsham Tyre Co., Ltd. (Stand 181); this equipment is suitable for small commercial vehicles.

New products from Merlin Engineering Co., Ltd. (Stand 159), are the Merlin Calirnaster Model 12/7+ diesel fuel pump test bench, the production model Merlin Calimaster M.8/7f, the Merlin Universal pressurized nozzle cleaner, and attachments for testing various pumps including the Simms Minimec.

A new item on the stand of Morris and Ingram (London), Ltd. (Stand 162), is a Vane ignition scope, whilst Ch. I. Neuman, Ltd. (Stand 356), present a new booster for their economy lubricator Mk. 803/310/11/BAS/7, claimed to give higher pressure (9,000 p.s.i.).

The new valve face grincEng machir produced by Prince (Kingston) Engineer Ltd. (Stand 165), is offered as a optional attachment for Prince cranksha regrinders. The wheel balancer for giar tyres featured by Repeo, Ltd. (Stand 178 the " Air-poise '? balancer, is of a ne• type; it is portable and strong. Who balancers are also shown by Stewar Warner, Ltd. (Stand 154). These are tt firm's electronic "On the car" unit Model 7857-L1 andModel 7058-1 A transportable servicing unit is intr( duced by Tecalemit, Ltd. (Stand 392); tt unit, which includes a petrol-driven -a com`pressor, three air-operated lubricatir pumps, three self-reeling hose reels, tyre inflator and a penetrating oil spraye is available for mounting on to a Lam Rover long-wheelbase chassis. Tecalem also show a new mobile air-operate automatic oil drainer unit, and a ne electric four-post platform lift designe for two-level servicing which can be use as a single lift or as part of a multi-li installation; a wide range of vehicles ca be serviced.

A variety of new equipment is show by Tip Top Vulcanizing Products (Stan( 176 and 415), including the " Pex " gial tyre spreader, the " Pex " light trucl passenger tyre spreader, a quick-plug ki a bead breaker, and a snap ring remove The new Handy Dandy model steal cleaner from Wickham Industrial Equii ment, Ltd. (Stand 148), is of interes particularly in view of its low price (£2: with accessories).

Displays of small tools will be notc on various stands, including: Britool, Lt (758); Fry's (London), Ltd. (180); Thom Meldrum, Ltd. (160); Thomas Smith at Sons of Saltley, Ltd. (388).
