Yet another driver is injured as yobs hurl concrete from a motorway bridge. David Harris reports.

THE INCREASING danger to truck drivers from yobs throwing heavy objects at their vehicles has been underlined after a truck driver was cut on the face when a lump of concrete was thrown from a motorway bridge in Gloucestershire.

The 64-year-old in a 7.5-tonne curtainsider was hit as he went under the Green Street motorway bridge at Brockworth on the M5 — he saw two boys throw the lump of concrete at his cab.

The projectile hit his wing mirror and side window. The flying glass cut his forehead but he was not badly hurt and managed to maintain control of his vehicle. Police believe the boys who threw the concrete are about 13 years old.

It is not the first case of a driver being hurt in this way this year. In April another driver had a lucky escape when youths hurled a brick through the open window of his cab in Leicestershire, hitting him in the face and cutting his lip (CM 6 May). fortnight after 20-year-old Craig Harman was jailed for six years for throwing a brick from a motorway bridge at a truck and killing its driver. Michael Little of Hornchurch had a fatal heart attack after the brick hit him in the chest (CM 22 April).

Gloucestershire police have asked anybody who knows the identity of the two boys involved in the M5 attack, on Wednesday 13 October, to ring them on 0845 090 1234 or ring Crimestoppers on
