Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE FREIGHT Transport Association says congestion will cost British operators billions of pounds while they wait 10 years for more capacity on the M6.

It warns that we can't wait until 2016 for widening of the existing route or the extension of the M6 Toll because delays could jeopardise economic growth in the region, and the UK as a whole.

FTA regional policy manager, Stephen Kelly says: "The M6 corridor has a vital role for industry as it is at the hub of the country's strategic road network. However, like all our trade routes, the MO suffers daily congestion and we have long since lost the ability to reliably predict journey times between the country's second and third largest cities. This has serious financial and operational consequences."

• More than NO people gathered in Stafford on Saturday 16 October to protest against the government's proposals to expand Britain's first toll motorway.

John Gale, founder member of the Group Against Motorway Expansion (GAME), says : "We should be looking to producing goods locally to fulfil local people's requirements rather than have goods transported across the country."
