YORKSHIRE deputy Licen ing Authority N. Mood has deferred a decision on ti renewal of operator Gordc Sleightholm's licence until fleet inspection has bet carded out.
Mr Sleightholm, of Matto had complained that a demar from a vehicle examiner see the whole fleet on one ds was impractical.
He was seeking to renew licence which authorised fo vehicles and five trailers.
Mr Sleightholm said I could not afford to have 1 whole fleet off the road at t same time. He had offered make two vehicles and t.N, trailers available each day, b the vehicle examiner, Jo] Pickering, turned t suggestion down.
The vehicles were used the carriage of sugar beet a they were thorougt overhauled before the start each season.
Great strain
The use of "sleepi policemen" in the Brit: Sugar Corporation factor put a great strain on t vehicles and trailers and, particular, there Iv' problems over dams caused to springs. BecausE this, he had reduced period between inspection; the trailers from six to fi weeks.

Mr Moody said that, on information before him, could not be satisfied that Sleightholm was maintain his vehicles properly. He two alternatives: he co either refuse the applicatioi grant a short adjournm while a fleet inspection arranged.
After Mr Sleightholm said he could make his vet available this week, Mr Mc adjourned the hearing u November 7.
