AMACHINE which is expected to create considerable interest at the 1939 Motor Show, in New York, is that known as the Bantam. The maker of these vehicles will be showing the Bantam 5-cwt. Panel, its " 60 " Station Wagon and a new machine in the "60 " Boulevard Delivery.
This new model is of unique appearance, combining as it does the lines of the old-time hansom cab with that of the limousine. Despite this unusual combination, the general effect is by no means displeasing, as the accompany ing illustration shows. Every detail has been carefully worked out, even to the inclusion of carriage-type lamps on the black side panels. Access to the body is gained via a sliding, thief-proof door.
Features which are given special attention in the design of this concern's commercial models are economy of operation, snappy performance in traffic, and advertising value. In the States, these vehicles, completely equipped and Federal taxes paid, sell for less than 1.00.
The new " chassis incorporates balanced steering, with shorter turning radius, making for easier parking. By adopting a new system of springing, the overall height has been reduced by 3 ins., which adds considerably to stability and general controllability of the machine.
