Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MHE B.F. Goodrich Rubber Co., Akron, Ohio, has designed a new form of cushion tyre, which is known as the Zero-Pressure. It is specially designed for use on agricultural and industrial tractors, and has considerable cushioning power, but has an arch formation, as shown in the cross sectional diagram, the pillars of the arch preventing excessive deflection. The rubber arch is built on a slottedsteel base, and because there is no air pressure under the load the tyre can assume a concave tread. It is claimed to pack soft soil or sand under the centre of the tread, which stops sinking.
