• The Road Haulage Association has warned that minister's demands for truck drivers to cross firefighters' picket lines in an attempt to "rescue" red fire engines would not end the strike.
As CM went to press the RHA was warning that media calls for the army, poke and hauliers to help out by driving fire engines is not a practicable solution.
"Driving on motorways with speed limits is very different to driving what is a very heavy vehicle at high speed," says an RHA spokeswoman.
