A FORMULA for a return to work at the Birmingham depot 0 Containerhases Ltd was agreed last week between the aompany and the Transport and General Workers' Union. Normal work at the Perry Barr Containerbase will resume on Wonday December 1.

The disput e, involving security passes for employees and the company's right to search employees, has dragged m for some 15 weeks.

Mr Eric Sharrock, current nanager of the Perry Barr ConIainerbase, is to undertake an werseas mission for the cornany shortly. Containerbase ;ays this mission was planned :o take place last July but it was deferred, pending settlenent of the dispute. He will be • eplaced by Mr John Sheldrake, previously assistant development manager at company headquarters.

Arising from the loss of business caused by the dispute, the Fradley sub-depot of Container bases Ltd is to be closed. It is anticipated that 50 or more handling staff at the Perry Barr and Fradley Depots will be made redundant.

It is understood that the operative staff have agreed to carry security passes, and the right to search employees is no longer a dispute between the parties.
