COM M ERC1AL-VEHICLE exports for the first nine months 'Of the year, states the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, totalled 101,150 units, with a value of £60.1m., which is £10.25m. higher than the value of units shipped over a similar period during 1951.

Average weekly output in Septehiber was 4,961 units, the total for the month (live weeks) being 24,805, of which 12,421 were for export and 12,384 for the home market. Goods vehicles, road haulage tractors and special typos numbered 23,968, of which 10,858 were under 15 cwt. carrying capacity, 12,066 were from 15 cwt. and to 6 tons, and 1,044 over 6 tons.

Passenger-vehicle production reached 801 (580 single-dock and 218 dbublcdeck motorbuses and three trolley buses). Thirty six battery electrics were built.

During the first nine months of the year output amounted to 178,005 vehicles-98,854 for export and 79,151 for the home market. Goods vehicles, road haulage tractors and special types numbered 170,559 (79,640 under 15 cwt.. 81,341 between 15 cwt. and 6 tons, and 9,578 over 6 tons).

A total of 6,951 passenger vehicles was produced (5,377 single-deck and 1,500 double-deck motorbuses and 74 trolleybuses). Battery-electric vehicles totalled 495 and pedestrian-controlled types 695. Works-trucks output from January to August was 4,795.

Excluding dumpers and industrial trucks, 9,887 commercial vehicles were exported during September, the value of -exports, including dumpers and industrial trucks, being £6,519,608. Exports for the first nine months of the year, additional to the items shown in the table below, included 2,668 used vehicles (X1,331,736), 84,345 agricultural tractors (£33,485,539), and parts and accessories to the value of £62,843,361.
