SCOTTISH HAULIER Munro & Sons (Highland) is to appeal against the revocation of its 0-licence after it was put out of business by the Scottish Traffic Commissioner (TC) Joan Aitken (seen left).
In January, the group was fined £30,000 over the death in 2006 of 24-year-old Christina Fraser when a 30-tonne digger rolled off a Munro HGV and hit the car she was in on the A9.
Aitken put the goods vehicle operator out of business by revoking its operator licence; disqualifying former director Pamela Munro for two years; disqualifying directors David and William Munro for seven years and disqualifying driver Kenneth Finlayson for 12 months. The orders come into effect at 23:59 on 30 June, except for Finlayson, whose licence is revoked at 23:59 on 15 June 2009.
Aitken warned other operators and persons to be wary of "providing a front for continued operation" by Munro.
A spokesman for the company says it has still not received a copy of the TC's decision, but will be appealing.
