Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

again being warned to seek immediate medical attention if they develop the symptoms of legionnaires' disease.

County Durham driver William Temporal made the warning after spending the past six months recuperating from the disease—this is the second time drivers from the NorthEast have reported incidents in recent weeks (CM 23-29April).

Temporal picked up the potentially fatal bug while travelling back from the former Yugoslavia via Italy last September. Upon arriving back in the UK he started suffering fever, hallucinations and headaches, and finally collapsed. He was in hospital for six days and lost three stones in weight. Now he has made as full a recovery as he can, he wants to warn other drivers of the problems. He has only just gone back to work and, despite all his attempts, has received no compensation for loss of earnings.

Temporal warns: "The symptoms are just like having a heart attack, and you have absolutely no energy." • In April two unnamed drivers, also from the North-East, contracted the disease after returning from Spain. In all three cases the drivers appear to have picked up the water-borne bacteria while taking showers.

Drivers returning from Mediterranean countries suffering aches and pains and any of the above symptoms are advised to see a doctor as soon as possible.
