Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

UPON READING your article "One Weigh to Get a Load Off Your Mind" in CM, February 26, we would like to commend your publication and David Wilcox for an article that was both technically informative and accurately reflective, in our opinion, of the current state of on-board vehicle weighing in the UK. However, as a major supplier of such systems being marketed in the UK, we feel it is important that certain points in your article be clarified.

Lodec systems are sold in the UK on a factory authorised basis exclusively through the Londonbased firm, Raves UK. Precision Loads also sells Lodec systems obtained from authorised Lodec dealers within the United States, but does not deal directly with the Lodec factory. The installed load cells shown in a picture on the lower left corner of page 43 are Lodec load cells. We are informed that the system owned by John Burgess and advertised on page 45 of this same issue is also a Lodec system, sold through Precision Loads.

Precision Loads, however, also sells another system from a US manufacturer that competes with Lodec. Components of this system are shown in photographs on pages 42 and 43. You might note the similarities between these pictures and the "axle mounted transducer" referred to in the final paragraph in the Precision Loads section and the components of the Transequip system illustrated on page 44.

We feel there are very real differences in quality and

performance between the Loc system and the other system, which may be important to potential purchasers. We do n authorise Precision Loads to refer to Lodec systems as "Precision Loads" systems, al we feel this practice may lead customer confusion over whic scale system a Precision Load customer will actually receive

Unfortunately, Raves UK wa not referred to in your article. Potential UK customers who wish to determine the differences between the two U manufactured systems suppliE under the "Precision Loads" name should contact Raves Ut for further details regarding Lodec scale features, performance and factory warranties.
