Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THOSE DELEGATES who wanted a return to capacity controls in the industry got their answer from RHA director-general Freddie Plaskett who warned that a future Labour Government might turn that control into something which was against the industry's interests.

The matter had been debated by the RHA national council which concluded that the present Government would never agree to it, and that additional controls would be unacceptable to most RHA members.

Mr Plaskett reported on the progress of the RHA and its activities over the past year, sparing time to reprimand those companies which have taken RHA Insurance Services quotes to their previous brokers and persuaded them to reduce their rates to the RHA level.

He warned: "What it boils down to is that you, the members, must in the long run decide whether your own insurance broking company is going to continue to be a success and keep premiums low, or whether you value your local goodwill so much that you will be prepared to pay more for it."

Mr Plaskett also had some words of criticism about CM's opinions about the annual RHA conference at Marbella, in Spain in November. While the RHA has never replied formally to our critical comments earlier this year, Mr Plaskett used TipCon as an opportunity to reply to "a certain element of the technical press."

He said the £295 conference fee was cheaper than the fee for three days in Bournemouth, that sponsorship by Leyland meant it was not being disloyal to Britain, and it was not being disloyal to drivers.
