Its roof construction consists of aluminium alloy panels which sandwich 50mm (2in) thick polyeurethane insulation with supporting channels of top hat cross-section between the two skins.

The front bulkhead encloses similar insulation of 100mm (4in) thickness and has a steel frame to support a refrigeration unit. Its rear closure can be either insulated doors, an insulated up-and-over shutter or a one-piece insulated panel. Floor insulation consists of 16mm (0.6in) thick polyurethane foam, sandwiched between plastics-coated plywood panels and enclosing cross members which align with the main underframe crossmembers. Aluminium-alloy chequer plate overlay is optional.

Southfields suggests that the insulated Urbanloada will be used for chill-temperature transport at about 5°C to carry beer, dairy produce, cooked meats, fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers.

The model shown, for Northern Dairies, Rotherham, uses a Petter LOC2 refrigerated unit running from the vehicles fuel supply and batteries.
