THE BRITISH Association of Removers (BAR) enjoyed a successful financial year for 1982, according to Michael Scott in his report as retiring president of BAR.

The financial aim of BAR is to ensure that income from subscriptions and commercial activities is sufficient to pay for all the services required or expected by members. On top of this there is a surplus fund to finance the freehold of the London head office and its future development.

The most expected by important service members is in the creation and maintenance of an infrastructure to support member companies in their efforts to keep or increase their share of the removals and storage market in the face of competition from d-i-y cowboy operators and other "less reputable or established" movers, Mr Scott said.

To this end, the BAR board of management has tried to improve the industry's image of quality, reliability and fairness to its customers and to make the name of BAR well known and respected as a symbol of quality and respectability.

During 1982 BAR received about 2,000 inquiries concerning its activities as a result of its publicity campaign in 1982/1983. An audio visual film demonstrating the services BAR offers has been made. Any member wishing to give an illustrated talk to potential customers can borrow the film. the latest discoveries in vel aerodynamics.
