Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

drivers' licensing; they are below 3 tons unladen but over 7.5 tonnes gross. I understand that I can get an hgv driving licence if my driving experience totals six months in the last 18 months. Is this correct?

No, you are not quite correct. Section 3(3)(b) of the Road Traffic (Drivers' Ages and Hours of Work) Act 1976 covers this point. The effect of this is to allow the Licensing Authority to issue an hgv driving licence to people like yourself if they have been in the habit of driving vehicles such as you quote for six months in aggregate during any 12 consecutive months between the beginning of 1975 and April 1976. Thus, though the qualifying period totals nearly 18 months, the driving periods which must be totalled must be in any 12 consecutive months of that 18-month period.
