Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Round town

WORK is to start on the new 0.8m East Dereham by-pass on A47 Norwich to King's Lynn route. The new route will mean that heavy traffic will be able to miss the narrow roads and tight turns in the town.

The town is on the main holiday route to East Anglia from the Midlands and is badly congested in the summer season. The new road will use part of the former Dereham to King's Lynn railway line between Wendling and South Green.

Traffic separation

HOGARTH roundabout, Chiswick, London, is the site of the new full scheme for traffic separation on A4. Following studies of the road it was agreed that there was no justification for large expenditure on the road but the separation scheme is to go ahead.

It is envisaged that if the scheme goes ahead there will be a continuous flow of traffic from the three-lane A4 to the two-lane elevated section of M4.

Better A20

A ROUTE for the new A20 Sidcup by-pass improvement scheme has been agreed by Transport Minister Dr John Gilbert. The new route will give the road dual-carriageway through the boroughs of Bexley and Bromley.

A consultation document is to be issued on the route and it has been displayed at exhibitions along the route. It is probable that it will take the cross-country route through the areas which will be quicker and cheaper to build.

Welsh route

THE DEPARTMENT of the Environment has published proposals for the new A54 Kelsail by-pass in Cheshire. The route will provide a way around the tortuous Kelsall village on the main route to North Wales.
