The Atlas Preservation Co Ltd is to market a range of Foster adhesives and sealants designed for building transport containers under licence to Amchem Products Incorporated IUSA). Examples include the Foster 7C8 sealant, which is a highly flexible, non-tainting, elastomerbased sealant for joints in metal, wood, glass fibre, reinforced plastic and asbestos board. The sealant is approved by the US Department of Agriculture. The service temperature limits of this sealant are from minus 57deg C to 121deg C (minus 7Gdeg F to 250deg F). It is touch dry in 1/2 hrs and will not flow or sag even if, within one hour of application, the bead has to withstand short exposures to temperatures up to 107deg C (225deg F).

Foster 3J6 adhesive is particularly suitablefor sealing and securing roof bows, channel flooring and frames. It is a two-part epoxy poly-sulphide rubber material which fully cures in three to seven days but may be cured to handling strength at 82deg C (180deg F) in 15min. Its tensile adhesive strength is 750 psi and its service temperature limits are from minus 34deg C to 93deg C (minus 30deg F to 200deg

Other products in the range are the 7C7 sealant for lap sealing between metal surfaces and the 7E6 sealant, a rapid-drying sealant for joining applications where flexibility is most important.
