Dennis Hulbert, 37, has been appointed managing director of the transport and distribution division of Miles Druce and Co Ltd. Mr Hulbert has been with Shell since 1955 on the sales and marketing side. Miles Druce's transport division consists of Carryfast Ltd; Haulfast Ltd; and Fuelfast Ltd.

Brian Williams, 37, previously with Crane Fruehauf Trailers Ltd, has been appointed South Wales and Herefordshire representative for Tas Trailers Ltd.

Peter Yorke is retiring from the executive staff of British Electric Traction Co Ltd on August 18. Mr Yorke, who qualified as a solicitor in 1930, has been with BET for 25 years, chiefly in the passenger road transport field. In addition to having served as a director of BET-associated and subsidiary bus companies at home, he has been specially concerned with Parliamentary work for the bus industry. Philip Chappell, a managing director of Morgan Grenfell and Co Ltd, will become part time chairman of the National Ports Council in succession to Sir Arthur Kirby from June 15. Jack Jones, TGWU general secretary, is being reappointed deputy chairman. Among new members is D. E. A. Pettit, National Freight Corporation chairman.

I. C. Wilson has been appointed to the newly created post of assistant home sales manager for Scammell Lorries Ltd. Mr Wilson joined Scammell as an engineering apprentice in 1961, became an export salesman in 1966, transferred to the home sales department with responsibility for the South Eastern region in 1968.

Rex Weaver has been appointed general manager of Bullens South West Ltd, a subsidiary of Bullens Transport Group. Mr Weaver, who was previously company accountant, joined Bullens in October 1970 from Welch and Co Ltd, where he was company secretary.

Joseph Duke, joint general manager of Wordie Cowan Ltd, Belfast, has retired. Mr Duke had been in haulage for 47 years.

C. A. Goddard, transport manager of W. lnson and Son Ltd. Warwick, since 1947, is retiring on June 12. He has accepted the post of consultant and will remain in charge of drivers' routine maintenance, R. G. Nash, who joined the company as a driver in March 1969 and has worked in the traffic office for more than a year, has been appointed traffic manager and will take over the traffic side of Mr Goddard's duties. 'Cyril Menne!, assistant chief engineer fo Leyland Motors, is retiring at the end of thi month. Mr Mennel joined Leyland in 1933 as draughtsman designer from Crossleys Motors David R. Smith, 41, deputy manager o Leicester City Transport since March 1966 has been appointed general manager of thi Cardiff City Transport in succession to E. G. A Singleton, who is retiring. Mr Smith wa: appointed traffic superintendent to Boltor Corporation in 1956. In 1960 he became traffil superintendent at Leicester and in 196: moved to Bradford.

Clifford Grainger, transport manager for th( Mond Division of Imperial Chemical Industrie: Ltd, is retiring at the end of June 1971 and wil be succeeded by R. Coats of the Mont Division distribution department.

A. Cameron Miller, legal adviser, Scotland British Railways Board, has been elected chairmar of the Scottish section of the Institute o Transport; W. Murray, general manager, Glasgov Corporation Transport, is immediate post chairman Vice-chairmen A. F. Rowe (Atlas Express Ltd) J. . Obituary

We record with regret the death of Ernes Quinton.

Mr Quinton, 58, was chairman of Uxbridg, and District Vintage Vehicle Society, pas chairman' of the Historic Commercia Vehicles Club and member of the Transpor Trust Advisory Committee.
