Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Swaledale is not after all to loose its only bus link with Richmond when Percival Brothers (Coaches) Ltd closes down all its stage carriage routes at the end of the month and the remainder of its extensive business in June. New operators have been found and the route between Richmond and Keld at the top of the Dale is to be taken over by one of the largest operators in the North East, United Automobile Services Ltd.

It is also hoped to make arrangements to use a school contract bus for the Saturday service between Reeth in Swaledale and Arkengarthdale which runs north from it. Barnard Castle Coaches will take over another of Percival's daily services linking Richmond and Barnard Castle.

The arrangements are subject to a full examination of the financial detail and implications and to the approval of the Traffic Commissioners although in view of the circumstances this is confidently expected.
