New Series Suspension Unit THETHE first prototypes of a new "M" series suspension unit tandem-axle semi-trailers have recently been built by Rubery Owen and Co. (Warrington) Ltd. and incorporated into Boden semi-trailers. The suspension is similar to the established " R series, but has a number of refinements. The most important feature is that when fitted with sevenleaf springs there is a four-spring layout—capacity is 36.000 lb. (161 tons) and there is a saving of weight of 122 lb. on the comparable Rubery Owen R.36 suspension. For increased loadings 11-leaf springs are available. The springs are slipperended and axle location is by torque rods between the axle and the equalizer beam brackets in the case of the forward axle, and between the axle and an extension of the rear spring support in the case of the rearmost axle. A change in the equalizer member is that this component is now cast. At present the " M " series suspension is on trial in various markets but it will go into production in the UK later on to supplement the existing range of Rubery Owen models. It is already in current production for Canadian trailer manufacturers at Rubery Owen (Canada) Ltd. in Toronto.

For Bright Bodywork For Bright Bodywork THE work of leathering down and polishing bodywork can be eliminated using Polifinis, a product now being marketed in the UK by Polifinis Ltd. The product has been available on the Continent for some time and is applied through a mixing unit inserted in a hose line to the vehicle while it is still wet from being washed. It is said that the water and chemical mixture dries quickly without leathering to leave a shine on the paintwork, and that there is no detriment to glass in respect of smears. Polifinis is marketed in two forms-5-gal. containers or, at double strength, in 2-gal. containers. Dispenser units consist of a mixing valve, mixing container and 30 ft, of hose. On an initial order of 10 gal. of Polifinis double strength, or 20 gal. of ordinary Polifinis, a dispenser unit is supplied free. If a bulk order is not placed the unit costs £5, and this is essential as it is not possible to apply the product without it. Marketed by: Polifinis Ltd., 137 Victoria Street. London, SW I. Ltd. The tyre is called the Supreme and a construction synthetic process first used by Avon for car tyres is employed—poly
