I N 1964, the first year in which the examinations for the RSA diploma in road transport followed the revised scheme of study, there was a welcome increase in the candidates sitting and the papers worked. This is reported in the 1964 annual report of the National Committee on Road Transport Education.
The number of examination candi dates was 470 (366 in 1963) and the number of papers worked was 1,492 (1,313). There was a total of 98 firstclass passes, 753 seconds and 641 (or 43 per cent) failures.
Although employees of hauliers and company bus undertakings showed the largest increase among the 1964 students, the report calls for still greater support from road haulage.
