Swifts for Oxford : City of Oxford Motor Services Ltd. has ordered a total of 1/1 new AEC buses, including eight rear-underlloorengined Swift single-deckers, which will he amongst the first of this type to enter service in this country. The Swifts will be fitted with 53-seat Duple/Willowbrook bodies. Two Relianees with Duple coach bodies and eight Renown low-height double-deckers with Park Royal bodies form the balance of the order.

AECs for South Wales Again : AEC Ltd. has received orders from the South Wales Transport Co. Chesterfield Trials: Passengers of Chesterfield Corporation Transport have been asked this week for comments on one of Hull Corporation's new 46-seat Leyland Panther single-deckers. which has been operating on trial in the town. The bus is 6 ft. longer than any of Chesterfield's existing singledeckers. and also incorporates a number of other new features.

Leeds Stoppage : An unofficial one-day strike of drivers and conductors brought Leeds Corporation services to a standstill on Saturday. Transport committee chairman. Aid John Rafferty, said the strike was an attempt to force through locally a bonus being negotiated at national level.

Middlesbrough Fares Up: Middlesbrough Corporation Transport has been granted permission to increase the Id.. 2d.. 3d. and 4d. adult fares and the corresponding half fares for children by Id., and at the same time to abolish the Id. surcharge on both adult and children's fares in force at week-ends and bank holidays. Without the increases the Corporation faced an annual loss of £72,000.

All Bradford Old Folk to Benefit : Bradford City Council has decided that reduced fares on Bradford's buses for old people will not be limited to those who are not working. The Council had been asked to approve the transport committee's proposal that concessionary fares equal to the appropriate children's fares he granted to Bradford men over 65 and women over 60 "providing that they were not gainfully employed ".

Eastbourne "Deficit : For the second year running Eastbourne Corporation Transport had a deficit on its trading results—£2,684, compared with £5,614 in the previous year. Although more miles were run, some 384,000 fewer passengers were carried.
