WHITSON TO BUILD A VAN

riA LIGHT forward-control frontwheel-drive oil-engined vehicle is to be made by the bodybuilding concern of James Whitson and Co., Ltd. It is understood that an eight-seat hotel or school bus will cost about £1,000, including tax. As a van it will have a payload capacity of 20-30-cwt.

Mr. Whittit told The Commercial Motor that the engine, transmission and steering were to be built as a unit which would be retained by five bolts. A Turner 36 b.h.p. two-stroke oil engine was to be used, together with a David

Brown four-speed gearbox. It is intended to build prototype models with composite-construction bodies, but the production vehicles would be made of light alloy.

This is the first application of the Turner oil engine as initial equipment.

NEW LOW-PRICED WINDSCREEN WASHER

AWINDSCREEN washer that can be installed in a few minutes and sells for 25s., is now available from Tudor Accessories, Ltd., Beaconsfield Road, Hayes, Middx. The operative portion is a push-button plunger which can be arranged for either hand or foot operation.

The water is carried in an unbreakable container made of a transparent plastic. The spray-nozzles are adjustable for jet angle. Three models are available—Minor, Major and Four-jet, the respective prices being 25s., 30s. and 33s.
