Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

INDER certain conditions of operation, it is not always convenient, or practicable, to bring vehicles to a central depot for servicing. This would apply with greater emphasis overseas, where machines may be operating in scattered areas far distant from their base.

In this country, conditions somewhat similar could apply on large farms. where it would be more convenient to take service to the tractors than to run the machines several miles in order to have their tyres inflated, or to be greased.

A self-contained mobile outfit, which ideally meets such needs, is being produced by Equipment Repairs, Ltd., 19-20, The Viaduct, Alperton, Wembley, for the Anglo-Iranian Oil Co., Ltd., for

servicing its contractor's plant. The basis of the outfit is an ex-Army Mark 2 gun trailer, on which the original Girling braking system is retained.

Considering that the trailer body measures only 5 ft. 11 ins. by 3 ft. 7I ins., it is surprising the amount of equipment that is accommodated. There is a range of Tecalemit greasing and oil servicing units, a petrol-driven unit driving an air compressor, a large air receiver and the requisite pipe

The Tecalemit equiPment comprises a Model I-I.P 130 softgrease servicing unit; a Goliath greasing plant capable of dealing with Energrease No, 3 medium (Pen I.P.T. 250) and heavier lubricants, a Model L.P. 10 gear-oil dispensing unit, and a manually operated oil servicing unit. The D.2-type air-compression plant, by E.E.N. Patents, Ltd., includes an A.2-type compressor delivering 9 cubic ft. per rnM. to as air receiver mounted across the trailer.

Power is supplied by a Petters singlecylindered petrol engine, which drives the compressor by twin rubber belts. The 30-ft. lengths of servicing hose, connected to the respective items of equipment, are carried on drums at the

rear, and for servicing are unwound to the extent necessary to reach the point desired. When disconnected from the tractive unit the servicing trailer is supported by three legs which can be set on uneven ground to bring the

trailer level. •

In the travelling position the whole unit is totally enclosed so that the equipment is fully protected. We understand that 10 such plants are beins built for the Anglo-Iranian Oil Co.. Ltd., and that similar outfits are available at £510.
