The Finance Committee of tiro Bolton Town. Council has made application to the L.O.B. to borrow E1000 for the purchase of a new motor fire-engine.

The latest purchase of a motor ambulance in Scotland is that by Campbells, Ltd., of Bon Accord Street, Aberdeen. The vehicle is built on a 20 bn. leVolseley chassis. and is now at the disposal of nursing homes and private individuals in the Aberdeen district, on hiring terms.

The receipts of the NatiOnal Steam Car Co., Ltd., for the week ended 21st May, 1911, were £5429. This shows an increase of £2267 over the corresponding period of last year.

The receipts of the Tramways (M.E.T.) Omnibus Co., Ltd., for the week ended 16th May, 1911, were £9299, and for the Gearless Omnibus Co., Ltd., £4l. These show an increase of £46t0 and 1141 respectively over the corresponding period of last year.

Proposals and Purchases. Southend Corporation is about to purchase a motor ambulance.

The Ebbw Vale U.D.C. is considering a motorbus scheme of its own.

The Rowley Regis Police and Press Committee is finding a good response to its appeal for funds to purchase a motor ambulance.

The Chesterfield Town Council has instructed its chief constable to furnish full particulars concerning the demand for a motor ambulance, and specifications for such whibles. The Busmen's Charter.

We published the terms of the socalled London busmen's charter in our issue of the 25th September last. Certain concessions have been made by the directors of the company, at conferences which_ took place last week, and we sieir deal with these when they are officially confirmed by both sides. As we have pointed out on an earlier occasion, the men's demands, if granted to the fullest extent, would have approximated an increase of wages amounting to half the company's total revenue. Rumours concerning the situation have slightly depressed the company's " A " shares of late.

Various Powers.

Walsall Town Council has objected very strongly to the Staffordshire Council's proposed levy of 441. per mile for trolleybuses, but, surely, if owners of motorbuses are asked to pay at that rate, owners of trolleybuses should pay at least twice as much, seeing that their vehicles of necessity run more in the same tracks, Cleckheaton U.D.C. has been successful, subject to the further stages, in securing powers to run motorbuses along the Halifax road to Hightown, and from Cleckheaton boundary to Oomersal Hill Top. An agreement has to be reached with Liversedge and Gomersal, and it is stipulated that the fares shall not exceed Id, per mile. The West Riding County Council is to have td. per bus-mile towards road maintenance.
