Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

that your magazine may be able to make the right people sit up and listen to a growing problem

in our industry. The subject is the lack of HGV driving tests. The problem seems to stem from the fact that the Driving Standards Agency has too few qualified examiners to cover the increase in demand for HGV and PSV driving tests. Instead, they are giving priority to car and motorcycle tests.

This I find unacceptable in view of the cost of training a person for a vocational licence. Our company on average is waiting about 4-6 weeks for tests. This means we are having to pay for tests and not getting anything back for about 6-10 weeks.

Our main concern, however, is for the trainees and their employers. The problem is made worse by the fact that, following failure, trainees have to wait far too long for a retest. We. as a training company, would like to put a trainee back in as soon as possible so they are still fresh from the training program. Barry Hughes, via email.
