• The M6 motorway between junction 25-32 (WiganBroughton) will benefit from lighting when the last stretch of four miles is switched on later this month. Nearly £700,000 has been spent on lighting the carriageway from junction 27 (Parbold) to just north of the Charnock Richard service area. This stretch had a night time accident rate 20% higher than the national average.
