• The protective coating Teuclad was developed at the research laboratories of Mebon and its parent company BP Chemicals, and formulated to control corrosion on container baseframes, units like flattracks and offshore containers.
For the container manufacturer and refurbisher, the coating is easy to apply and can be handled within an hour of application. The primer is yellow and the coating metallic grey. A salt-spray test indicates a life expectancy of 15 years.
Seawheel, part of the United Transport Group, has selected Teuclad for refurbishing 200 coil-carrying flats in use between the UK and Western Europe. Equipment engineer Harry Taylor said: "The coat ing has an excellent specificafion, the price is competitive, and the company gives a fiveyear guarantee, so we are giving it a try."
