/ Dennis Eagle is expanding the range of services which it can offer from its service depot at Trafford Park, Manchester with the fitment of third axles and the provision of full maintenance services for Allison automatic gearboxes.

Jeremy Stokes, managing director of Dennis Eagle, says: "We need to underpin our service support for local authority operators around the country. Local authorities are coming under increasing financial pressure — we see our service support as a way of helping them keep costs down."

Weweler and Granning third axles are available for operators seeking to increase the payload of their refuse collection trucks, although the Dennis Eagle service extends , to other types of commercial

vehicles, too. To support its work on Allison automatic transmissions — an increasingly common option on municipal vehicles — Dennis Eagle has installed a gearbox test rig in Manchester. Other specialist work undertaken includes chassis straightening, the retrofitting of new dustbin lifts, and vehicle refurbishment covering engine and gearbox replacement and the fitment of a new bin lift.

Denis Eagle's Manchester service depot is one of six which are strategically placed to serve London, the West Midlands, Greater Manchester, South and West Yorkshire, Tyneside/Cleveland and Central Scotland.
