• The Bus and Coach Council is warning coach operators in the South of England that there could be a shortage of drivers during the peak summer season due to increased competition for staff from the bus sector.
It predicts that there could also be delays of eight weeks or more in PSV Licence testing.
London Buses is believed to be looking for up to 600 more drivers and is currently running an aggressive recruitment campaign claiming pay rates of up to £200 per week. The BCC says that driver availability in the coach sector could decline as drivers are attracted to year-round regular work with local municipal operators.
