Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• In response to the growing demand from tipper operators for high-powered eight leggers, Leyland will launch a new 224kW(300hp) version of its 8x4 Constructor chassis at the Tipcon Show at Harrogate in May.

The 30.30 Constructor will be the most powerful eightwheeler in Leyland's four-axle rigid range. It is powered by the Perkins Eagle '800' Series engine which produces 224kW gross at 1,900rpm and has a peak torque of 1,303Nm (9611bft) at 8901,32Orpm. Both figures are to EEC 80/1269.

Leyland will offer the 30.30 in three wheelbases 5.77, 6.40 and 6.90m. The 5.77 and 6.40m models will be available for both tipping or general haulage applications, while the longest 6.90m chassis will only be offered for haulage work.

Kerbweight for a 5.77m wheelbase 30.30 Constructor is around 8,613kg, giving a body/payload allowance of 21,877kg. On the 6.9m wheelbase haulage chassis the kerbweight increases to 8,807kg giving a body-payload allowance of 21,683kg.

Standard transmission on the 30.30 is the Fuller RTX 11609B Roadranger ninespeed constant mesh box coupled to a Dana Spicer twin plate clutch. The Rockwell SSHD rear bogie has a lockable third axle differential and is plated for 19,300kg.

The 30.30 Constructor models are fitted with steel Leaf suspension all round as standard, but operators can order the high-power 8x4 with optional Norde rubber suspension on the rear bogie.

The Tipcon show truck has

already been sold to Northumberland-based operator T Tulip and Sons and will. be shown fitted with an 18.6m3 alloy body with an Edbro ram.

Also on the Leyland stand at Tipcon will be one of the new Cummins-powered lightweight Freighters (CM. March 21).
