Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

be the first tyre deflation warning device; the total assembly weighs only 25 grams.

The system is based on a pressure switch mounted on the rim of the vehicle's wheel which emits an electronic signal as soon as pressure falls below a predetermined level.

A fixed receiver picks up the signal and relays it to a warning light on the dashboard. Compensation is made for pressure changes caused by air temperature in the tyre. AVDEG is already being planned in as original equipment in cars, with trucks to follow. Warning against another road hazard, fog or poor visibility, is the purpose of the Jaeger VIS1R system. The windscreen-mounted unit emits a beam of modulated light and calculates the visibility factor by measuring the beam's reflection off water droplets in its path.

Ambient light and even grime on the windscreen are taken into account in the calculation. The visibility factor is then matched with road speed and VISIR warns the driver if he is travelling too fast. The system automatically lights the rear fog lamps in this event.

Jaeger says its new MANOC 26 pressure switch enables oil pressure and rpm to be linked to give more meaningful oil pressure warnings and is a major advance over conventional oil pressure gauages. It provides two warning gauges. It provides two warning thresholds, 0.2 to 0.6 bar (engine idling pressure) and 1.5 to 3 bar (normal pressure at cruising speed) which can be varied according to the type of engine. Associated electronic circuitry enables the dynamic monitoring of engine oil pressure by coupling the oil pressure readings with rpm.

Jaeger is represented in the UK by Time Instrument Manufacturers, Acctirn House, 989-995 High Road, Finchley, London N12 8QX.
