that 40% of fatigue-related crashes involve a driver who was at work at the time.

An RAC investigation into sleep deprivation and driving found.that the proportion of drivers admitting to falling asleep while driving varied depending upon the number of miles driven each year. Of all the drivers questioned, 15% admitted to failing asleep at least once, while of those who drove more than 20,000 miles a year, 34% admitted falling asleep at least once. A total of 6% of the drivers interviewed admitted to falling asleep up to 10 times, while 14% of drivers exceeding 20,000 miles a year admitted totalling asleep more than 10 times.
