Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A new chairman and chief executive officer has been appointed by Crane Fruehauf, Britain's largest trailer and semi-trailer manufacturer.

He is Basil Day who is the company's current managing director. Replacing Day as managing director is marketing and planning director, Tom Lynchy.

Day joined Cranes, as it was then known, in 1954 in the drawing office, and gathered wide experience in all aspects of the company's business.

He was appointed to the main board in 1965 following Crane's partnership with the Fruehauf Corporation of America. In 1977 he was appointed managing director of Fruehauf de Mexico, and on his return to Europe he briefly held the post of vice-president of manufacturing and purchasing of Fruehauf Europe before being appointed managing director of Netam Fruehauf, the Dutch subsidiary.

He returned to the UK as managing director of Crane Fruehauf in 1980.

Lynchy joined Crane Fruehauf in 1979, having previously held senior management positions with a leading British company specialising in welding equipment. In 1982 he became marketing and planning director.
