• We record with regret the death of Eddie Hirst, who joined Commercial Motor in June 1938, became northern regional manager based in Manchester, and retired in January 1980. He served as a warrant officer in the Army during the Second World War.
Eddie, as he was known to everybody, was a popular member of CM's staff and was extremely well known in the industry. He lived in Poynton, near Manchester, and is survived by his widow.
