/ Leyland, Volvo and Enasa are considering offering an instant and average fuel consumption measuring instrument as an option on their vehicles. The device, known as the Mileage Maker, has been developed by a Californian-based company, Andiron, which sells its Data Corn II on-board truck computer in the UK through its British subsidiary, Anchron UK.
Mileage Maker is designed to fit a standard 5cm (2in) instrument slot on a truck's dashboard, but it can also be fitted above the dash.
It works via a flow meter, manufactured by Anchron in the US and also used in the Data Corn computer.
Anchron says the 2400 Mileage Maker should be available in Britain from early August.
