MORE FLEETUNES FOR MANCHESTER: Another 30 Daimler Fleetline chassis have been ordered by Manchester Corporation Transport Department. They will be fitted with 75-seat bodies by M.C.W.. a feature of which will be the provision of standing space for the conductor at the foot of the stairs.

BRITISH ROAD SERVICES DOUBLE A.E.C. ORDER: A further 78 Mercury tractive units have been ordered by British Road Services in addition to its recent order for a total of 75 Mercury lorries and tractive units. Dual braking systems will be fitted permitting maximum utilization of existing semi-trailers which may be fitted with either air pressure or vacuum brakes.

YORK TEAMSTERS ORDERED: Recent orders for York Teamsters include six 14tanners for Central Garage, Pontefract, five for Comberhill Wakefield Garages Ltd., Wakefield, and two 20-tonners for H. P. Balmer Ltd., Hereford.

A.E.C. IN THE AFRICAN FOREST: John Holt Bartholomew Ltd., A.E.C. distributors in Accra, has called for six more Mandator chassis to be shipped to West Africa in c.k.d. form. They will be assembled by local labour for service as prime movers on logging duties in the forests of Ghana.

COMETS FOR FREETOWN: Leyland Motors Ltd. has received an order from the Crown Agents on behalf of Freetown Road Transport Department for eight Comet 12C.6RP single-decker bus chassis and two Titan PD2.4I double-deckers.

LEOPARDS FOR TRENT: A 'total of 32 Leyland Leopard chassis has been ordered by Trent Motor Traction Co. Ltd., of Derby. They will include 24 PSU3.1 models, 16 with 125-b.h.p. engines and eight with 130-b.h.p. engines and electrically operated two-speed rear axles. The remainder will comprise three PSU3.3 36-ft. models and five L2 30-ft. models.

L.C.0 Exhibition THE work done at the London County Council's supplies department's mechanical works division, Wandsworth depot, is being featured at an exhibition staged by the L.C.C. at County Hall, London, S.E.1. Wandsworth depot is the base workshop for major repairs to all L.C.C. vehicles, excluding fire engines.

The exhibition includes the reinforcedplastics body shell of a small school bus designed and produced at the depot. Details are also shown of the manufacturing process used on the production of reinforced plastics ambulance bodies, of which more than 200 have already been produced.

Cummins-Krupp Agreement

I T has been announced that the Friedrich Krupp concern is to produce Cummins diesel engines in Germany. The start of collaboration between the two companies will be the production by Krupp of the Cummins V.6 200 b.h.p. engine, which will be available by the end of this year through Cummins' distribution network. In 1964 Krupp will begin making the Cummins V.8 265 b.h.p. unit.

MORE A.E.C. COACHES FOR T1MPSON'S: Another eight Reliance coaches have been ordered by A. Timpson and Sons Ltd., of Catford. Four will be 36-ft. 590 models with six-speed gearboxes, and the remainder 470 models to be fined with 41-seat bodies of 31-ft. 10-in, overall length.

COACHES FOR L.U.T.: Lancashire United Transport Ltd., Atherton, has ordered eight Leyland Leopard PSU3.3 36-ft.-long coach chassis with synchromesh gearboxes.

HEAVY DUTY A.E.C.s FOR RHODESIA: Eleven eight-wheel Mammoth Major heavyduty lorries fitted with locally made cabs and bodies are to enter service with Rhodesia Railways and one heavy duty Ranger chassis will go into service with the Royal Rhodesian Air Force. The Ranger will be a highground-clearance bus fitted with a singledeck body by Zambesi Coachworks Ltd. All the vehicles will be fitted with locally produced tyres and batteries, and five of the eight-wheelers will be fitted with dry-type air cleaners as an experimental venture.

MORE RELIANCES FOR SHEFFIELD UNITED: Sheffield, United Tours Ltd. has ordered 10 more 36-ft. Reliance 590 chassis. Six-speed gearboxes will be fitted.

Autolite Plugs In U.K.

SPARKING plugs are to be made by Autolite Motor Products Ltd., Ponders End, Middlesex. Autolite is a subsidiary of the American Ford Motor Co., and supplies plugs as original equipment for American Ford vehicles. They will now be fitted to all Fords produced in England and Germany. Distribution of Autolite plugs will be handled by Autocar Electrical Equipment Co., 77-85 Newington Causeway, London, S.E.1.
