56 tons, involving a change of base, resulted in an application by W. Nuttall and Sons Ltd., Clifton, at Manchester on Wednesday.
Mr. J. Backhouse, for the company. said that it had entered into an agreement with J. Stanworth Bros. Haulage Ltd., Burnley, to purchase the vehicles and base them at Clifton, but he considered this immaterial in view of the type of work which the vehicles did; they were on A licence with a wide normal user.
Nuttall would be taking over the longdistance part of the Stanworth business and the agreement between the two parties would preclude the vendors from trying to take traffic from the vehicles. Meanwhile, Stanworth would be doing local work in the Burnley area.
The North Western deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. A. H. Jolliffe. granted the application.
