Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Pr HERE are 64 miscellaneousimplements entered at the Royal Show for the Society's silver medals, as new implements for agriculture or estate pur poses. Many of these entries include implements for use with the agrimotor, an there are three new agrimotor. Piccard, Pietet and Co., Ltd., have entered both the 7 h.p. and the 25 h.p. Simar rotary tillers as new implements. These are not really new, but have not been used to any great extent in this country. They are, as mentioned elsewhere, manufactured at Geneva, Switzerland. The other agrimotor is the Link. less chain-track tractor, manufactured by the P.F.T. Corporation, 32, St. Swithin's Lime, London .E.a, to be

found on Stand No. 1.40 .J. Garrett and Sonsi Ltd., Sutton-at-Hone Kent). This agrimotor will be, described elsewhere in these columns.

The improved skim coulter, Scott patent, to fit all makes of ploughs, will be found on Stand No. 7 (Geo. Brown and Sons, Leighton Buzzard), This has been entered as a new implement..

There is, the change-over device, the maker's latest patent, for easily and efficiently converting a traction engine into a toad roller, or vice versa, by John Fowler and Co., Leeds, on Stand No. 46. Also, on the same stand, another new machine in the form of a10 -ton roller with patent tar sprayer and revolving brush combined, with patent grit or shingle spreader, will be found.

A new tractor plough is shown by James and Frederick Howard, Ltd., of Bedford, on Stand No. 47 (branch of the Agricultural and General Engineers, Ltd.). The plough has two furrows with reversible digging bodies; and with patent draw-bar, together with improved lifting gear.

What appears to be a very useful improvement to harrows is shown as a new implement by W. N. Nicholson and Sons, Newark, on view on Stand No. 50. It is a detachable duplex self-lift gear for harrows, for raising back or front tines alternately or at the same time, fitted to a set of four general-purpose harrows for motor tractor work, with six rows of tines covering 13 ft. wide and 5 ft. deep.

A new threshing machine is being shown by Marshall Sons and Co., Ltd., Gainsborough, and can be seen on StandNo. 53. It is of small size, built of steel, with light frame, on iron wheels, suitable for driving by agrimotor.

On the same stand is the new Marshall 5-6 ton tipping wagon, also entered as a new implement. A new sheaf binder by Harrison, McGregor and Co, of Leigh, Lanes, should be seen on their Stand No. 58.

Martin's Cultivator Co., Ltd., of Stamford, on Stand No. 68, are exhibiting their patent cultivator, patent ridger, and patent self-lift harrow.

A petrol-driven power saw is another new implement, manufactured by the Wee McGregor Saw Manufacturing Co., Of Vancouver, to be found on Stand No. 114 (0. A. Pfeifer, 51, High Street, Borough, London, S.E.).

The Wade petrol-driven portable saw is shown by Christie and Penny, Ltd., Outer Temple, Strand, London, on Stand No. 117, A very useful new implement will be

found on Stand No. 124 (Drake and Fletcher, Broadway, Maidstone, Kent). This neW implement. is a self-lift plough for hops, to perform'either the ploughing inwards or outwards, or the baulking of hops in one operation by the use of ODB man drfying an agrimotor. By means of such an outfit, it is possible to plough four acres a day. The plough is made in various widths to suit the width of the plant, and is fitted with expanding and reversible breasts.

W, Tasker and Sons, Ltd., Andover, are showing the Edmonds variable tractor draw-bar on Stand No. 149. Its function is to enable the agrimotor driver to adjust laterally the draught on any plough or implement, without moving from his seat or stopping the tractor. Ransomes, Sims and .Tefferies, on Stand No. 162, exhibit a new oil engine, threshing machine, plough and cultivator. The threshing machine is the " Homestead," 42 ins. wi4e,, on iron wheels, suitable for being driven by agrimotor. The new

plough is for deep digging and sub-soil, ing with the agrimotor as power, while the cultivator is the "Dauntless " self. lift with nine solid tines and tractor hake.

Two new implements are shown by the International Harvester Co., on their Stand No. 163. These take the form of a grain shocker and a stech land attachment for the agrimotor. A new implement in the form of a tractor plough has been produced by Phipps and Son, of Chippenham, on Stand No, 166. It is fitted with the Phipps patent ,,silver medal self-lift attachment, but with an improved tripping arrangement. The Taco automatic tractor binder hitch, attachable to all makes of tractors and binders, manufactured by the Tractor Appliance Co., New Holstein, U.S.A., is shown by Melchior; Armstrong and Dessau on Stand No. 174. The Land Drainage Excavator Co., Spalding, on Stand No. 283, show a new attachment fitted to an enlarged Revolt drain excavator.

Some people seem to think that what is required in agrimotor implements is strength and size, but that is not always so, and, in regard to haymaking and farming implements:it is very far from being true, as adaptability is a consideration of equal importance, and mowers and harvesters for tractor work seem to be developing in Athe direction of strength and durability with a small increase in size over the horse implerents,
