In addition to roof-top units DC Airco offers the 008500 split unit system where the exterior compressor/condenser is mounted on the rear cab wall while the interior cooler unit is attached to the rear bulkhead. In trials with the large Dutch operator JWJ Humping running Daf XF95 Super Space cabs down to Southern Europe, including Spain, the D08500 unit was capable of providing cool air for two drivers sleeping during the day in temperatures up to 36'1' Celsius (969F) with no battery or starting problems after ninehours' rest.
Using the 008500 while driving Rumping also claims to be saving up to 10% on fuel on the move and 3.8 litres (0.83gal) of diesel per hour while the vehicle is parked up. Contact: www.dcairco.com/splitt.html
