• Translight Turbo is the latest generation of automatic welding shield from Lansec. It is designed for welding with low amperage or TIG inverters and will darken in 0.0001 second. Powered by a solar cell (with accumulator backup), the degree of darkening can be adjusted between DIN values of 9 la Returning to clear takes between 0.1 and lsec depending on how long welding has been under way. For tacking the lens returns quickly, but after a run it clears slowly to allow the eyes to adjust.
The Translight Turbo weighs 400g and retails at £199 (ex-VAT). It has a 10-year life expectancy, says the company. The non-variable versions, which are cheaper, are still available.
