Keywords : Unipart, Edmunds, Spanner

• Parts factor Edmunds Walker is to be sold to Finelist, which owns the chain of 70 Autela Components branches. Edmunds Walker, with 100 branches, is one of the largest factors in the UK and has a significant section of the CV parts sector but it is running at a loss.

Both factors will continue to trade under their existing names.

Unipart's other CV specialist factor, Truck and Trailer Components, is not part of the deal, but Finelist expects to be its biggest customer.

Chris Swan, Finelist chairman and managing director, says the overlap between the branches is mini mal; he sees the CV sector as being a target growth area.

Edmunds Walker has been moving towards a hub-and-cluster system, running down its central warehouse at Cowley —Autela already uses this system.

Autela has signed a deal giving it sole rights to distribute King Dick tools to the automotive sector.

The contract starts on 1 August and is celebrated by two special offers: an eight-piece combination spanner set (719mm) at £23.95 (ex-VAT), and a fivepiece ring-spanner set (10-19mm) at £15.95 (ex-VAT).
